Los siguientes son fragmentos relatando el triunfo genético de dos seres humanos uno en Asia y otro en Irlanda. En el mismo artículo se relata el triunfo de un gen que sobrevivió a su especie de origen: la microcefalina, que tiene que ver con el tamaño del cerebro, y pasó a los seres humanos gracias a la hibridización con los neandertales.

That's what Genghis Khan did, and did with astonishing success. An estimated 16 million men today, plus an uncounted number of women, are his direct descendants.

Closer study revealed that this marker probably originated in Mongolia roughly 1,000 years ago, plus or minus three centuries.

Khan was born around 1162 in Mongolia, and in his forties he began a campaign of conquest, ultimately creating an empire stretching from the Caspian Sea to the Pacific.

Irish geneticists have discovered a marker carried by one in five men from northwestern Ireland. They also noticed something else these men shared in common: their last names.

traditionally thought to have been founded by a fifth-century warrior known as Niall of the Nine Hostages.

Instead of natural selection, they experienced historical selection.

La drogadicción mundial

Una vez vi un documental que afirmaba que la plata invertida en el mundo para comerciar drogas sicotrópicas es mayor que la plata que se invierte en vestimenta, y la vestimenta es una de las tres necesidades humanas básicas en teoría, junto con vivienda y alimentación. Por otro lado, todas las culturas humanas han usado sustancias sicotrópicas. Algo me dice que la alucinación inducida es una necesidad básica que forma parte inexpugnable de nuestra naturaleza humana. Sobre eso me acordé mucho en un artículo del cuál pego unos pedacitos aquí:

Prescription medicines are fast becoming the world's high of choice, opening the door to deadly counterfeits.

VIENNA, Austria - Abuse of prescription drugs is about to exceed the use of illicit street drugs worldwide, and the shift has spawned a lethal new trade in counterfeit painkillers, sedatives, and other medicines potent enough to kill, a global watchdog warned yesterday.

In the United States, the abuse of painkillers, stimulants, tranquilizers, and other prescription medications has gone beyond "practically all illicit drugs with the exception of cannabis," with users increasingly turning to them first, the Vienna-based group said in its annual report.
